Curo Background

Curo was founded in January 2010. We welcomed our first enterprise clients in 2011. Our founders are comprised of technology and compensation experts. Our team has years of practical experience in managing large and complex annual compensation reviews and managing successful enterprise software firms. Our software is the emerging comp solution of choice amongst leading Talent Management technology providers. This product has been selected, on an exclusive basis, by Deltek (formerly HRsmart), Page Up, TalentGuard, Payfactors and Open Symmetry. The company has offices in California, Ottawa, Edinburgh, London & Australia.

Curo’s software solutions include CuroEnterpriseCuroPET, and CuroGPG.

Over 200 leading companies form our client base. Through these organization we support people across 140 countries and in more than 130 currencies. Our strong client community all work with us (and each other at Client forums) to help evolve our compensation management software solutions.

Gerry O’Neill

Founder & CEO, Curo Compensation

Dr Gerry O’Neill has worked in the HR Industry for 20 years, he was one of the founders of Curo, a market leading Reward Management solution, and has been CEO of the company since February 2012. Gerry was previously CEO at Vebnet, a provider of a SaaS based solution for the management and administration of flexible benefits and online Total Reward Statements.  Vebnet was established in July 2000 and quickly became the market leader in this sector and had over 150 clients in the globally; it was acquired by Standard Life in October 2008.  Prior to Vebnet he spent 9 years a senior manager at the Royal Bank of Scotland and was responsible for, among a number of initiatives, the Supermarket JV with Tesco (TESCO Personal Finance) and setting up the UK’s first online Mortgage Origination Company which was sold to Bristol & West Building Society. Gerry holds a PhD in Applied Mathematics.

Ruth Thomas

Industry Principal, Curo Compensation 

Ruth Thomas is a co-founder and Senior Consultant at Curo. She is Curo’s SME and works with our prospects and clients to ensure they optimize their reward strategy execution utilizing our best of breed Total Compensation Management tools. Her interest in technology’s ability to transform traditional approaches to reward helps to drive our innovative product strategy. With over 25 years of Global HR and reward management experience she has international expertise in the management of compensation processes and the design of pay and benefit structures, salary progression systems and management incentive plans. Her corporate experience includes Lloyds TSB Group, Price Waterhouse Coopers, Dow Jones Group and Credit Suisse.

Dave Ball

Head of Development

Dave Ball is an engineer at heart, who has joyfully applied himself to leading our Development Teams and shaping our best-of-breed compensation product portfolio. Prior to Curo, Dave was an Engineering Lead working on HR technology products following more than a dozen years in various Software Engineering roles. Dave’s experience as Developer, Team Lead and Architect were the ideal fit to initiate and lead development of our updated & fully modern Curo platforms, deploying key, (patent pending) solutions to the challenges of the Compensation domain.

Lorna A. Daly

Head of Professional Services, Curo

Lorna Daly is Head of Professional Services at Curo.   She is a senior professional with a proven record of results in taking business ideas from inception, through launch and into growth in the computer software industry.  With over 20 years of Global HR Software and Customer Success experience she has significant experience in managing and guiding customer success initiatives internationally.  Her recognized ability in the development of new international teams, projects and strategic planning has allowed her to work with many prospects and clients to ensure they have an exceptional experience during their implementation and gain ongoing ROI from their investments. Her corporate experience includes Bell Canada, Telecom Canada, Halogen Software.   She has a Bachelor of Commerce from Carleton University and a Bachelor of Education from Ottawa University, both in Ottawa, Canada.

Nancy Wilkinson

Head of Global Sales

Nancy Wilkinson has spent the last 15 years working across multiple industries and sectors, helping corporations, not-for-profits, NGOs and government agencies maximize their greatest asset; their people. As the Head of Global Sales for Curo, Nancy provides overall strategic sales direction to sales professionals across North America, working closely with the executive management team on developing and implementing the organization’s growth plans and working directly with customers.

Prior to joining Curo, Nancy worked for a national human resources systems leader where she collaborated with clients’ in-house human resource expertise to provide the design, execution, and operation of a complete talent management program. In addition, she was a key player in helping build the organization prior to its IPO, including leading regional sales and contributing to employee engagement.

Angela Williams

Non-Executive Chairman

Angela Williams joined Curo as Non-Executive Director in February 2017 and was appointed Chair in December 2017. Angela, who is currently People Director at British Airways, also works as a freelance HR consultant for a range of large corporate clients.

Angela is a very experienced Executive in both Global and Group HR Director commercial and operational roles having worked for Sodexo globally, British Gas/Centrica, Land Securities (FTSE 30) The Walt Disney Company, BH Blackwell, Exxon Mobil and as Chief Operating Officer for internet start-up QXL.ricardo.

Angela has worked as a Non-Executive Director and Chair of Remuneration Committees for over 10 years and has won awards for her work on diversity and inclusion, change and transformation and brand impact.

David Milroy

Non-Executive Chairman

David Milroy is a Partner at Maven Capital Partners where he is a member of Maven’s Investment Committee and is responsible for sourcing and executing private equity investments in Scotland as well as technology and life science investments across the UK. His current investments include Blacktrace Group, QikServe, CB Technology, Curo Compensation, Optoscribe, Symphonic Software and BioAscent. David started his career as a scientist with GlaxoSmithKline.
After completing his PhD, he moved to international consultancy firm Wood Mackenzie (and then parent Deutsche Bank) where he supported the healthcare banking team, advising clients on their corporate and licensing strategies; and performing due diligence projects on companies, products and technologies.
David joined Aberdeen Asset Management’s private equity division (spun-out to form Maven in 2009) in September 2007 as Fund Manager for an early-stage technology fund. David has a First Class Honours degree in Pharmacy, a PhD (Molecular Biology/Gene Delivery) from the University of Bath and a MBA from The University of Edinburgh.

Chris Allner

Non-Executive Chairman

Chris Allner is a partner of Downing LLP and heads up the Investment Team. Chris has 35 years of venture capital and private equity experience, most recently as head of private equity at Octopus Investments. Prior to this, he was a director at Beringea and Bridgepoint with previous experience at 3i and Charterhouse. Chris has transacted over 50 investments and has sat on the boards of a number of unquoted and quoted portfolio companies across a variety of commercial sectors. Current board seats include Claresys Ltd and Curo Ltd. Chris joined Downing in March 2012.
